"A 50 gallon tank is all you need (conventional). The recovery times are so efficient now compared to the original 40 gallon tanks installed. Tankless heaters cost a lot of money and the return on investment is negative. You can buy a quality 50 gal. for 500.00 and have it installed for about 2-3 hours labor." (D. Locke, 4/28/15)
"I would NEVER put a tankless water heater in a house this large. We inherited from the previous owner and spent hundreds trying to get it to circulate the entire house. We still have to wait just as long (if not longer) for the water to get hot than we did with a tank. And, we often have "hot" water coming out of the "cold" faucet. I think tankless are great for small places--my mother has one in Orlando and it saves her money on power...but I will gladly replace our tankless with a tank." (S. Baker, 4/28/15)
