CenturyLink / Century Prism
"We've lived here 4 years. I think Century Link has been down for 30 mins the whole time, and it feels like Xfinity goes down every quarter for half a day. We stream everything on YouTube TV. Century Link all day, then some more." (T. Lancaster, 06/22)
"Have Century Link and rarely have had issues in 8 years. I hear people asking about xfinity issues at least once every month or so." (D. Hickman, 06/22)
"Even with two of us remote working and streaming tv we have very little issues." (R. Olsen, 06/22)
"I was paying $75/mo just for internet with Comcast and they wouldn't budge so I've switched back to Centurylink for 2 years at half the price." (M. Doherty, 6/26/15)
"I thought the speed (of Comcast) was horrible so I switched to Century Link and am much happier. I still get instances where it seems to completely stop for a min or two but goes away pretty quick. Much better than constant lag of Comcast." (M. Swirtz, 5/12/15)
"I've been pretty happy with Century Link internet." (C. Smith, 11/6/14)
"We ditched Comcast all together. We use Century Link with no problem. We find it is equal to Comcast internet in every way. We do not pay for any kind of cable. We get free TV with an antennae and we use Netflix. We save $250.00 a month and we're loving every penny of it. Such a relief not to be paying that huge ridiculous bill to Comcast anymore. Our Century Link and Netflix total $27 a month." (M. Henry, 10/31/14)
"Most of the time, we're pretty happy with it. Occasional slow speeds, and they keep trying to raise the bill every year. Probably pretty typical." (H. Walter, 10/26/14)
"We have liked them. I like the help line if service is interrupted and they always are looking at speed and adjusting." (G. Lamberson, 10/26/14)
"Service for the most part was good...If you bundle with them and Direct TV get your quoted rates in writing...There is a lot of room for them to make mistakes and leave you babysitting a bill each month. And we did have one week recently where the internet just stopped working for a week due to a problem at their service box for the neighborhood!" (S. Spinks, 10/26/14)
"I too use Century Link. I work from home and am online all day, often with huge graphic files. I've had very few issues with them. They are pretty good service wise." (K. Keith, 4/22/14)
"No complaints with Century Link so far." (E. Phillips, 4/22/14)
"I have Century Link and work from home (heavy internet required) and have only had the occasional outage that happens no matter what provider you use." (N. Steranka, 4/22/14)

NOT RECOMMENDED - From the Denver Better Business Bureau... PATTERN OF COMPLAINT
BBB identified a potential pattern of complaints. Consumers are alleging Sales Practice Issues with this business. Consumers state they are often charged more than the price they agreed to when signing up for the service. Consumers also state they do not receive the speed and quality that is promised to them by the sales representatives. Customer Service Issues are also being alleged. Consumers claim the business is not responsive to their questions or concerns. Consumers claim the business will offer to reduce their rates but the rate reduction fails to go into effect on the bills. BBB is in the process of meeting with the business. On October 26, 2016, BBB received a response from CenturyLink. In regards to the Sales Issues, CenturyLink assures BBB they investigate each allegation like this and corrective action is taken. CenturyLink states that language on customer bills fully discloses early termination fees. BBB will continue to monitor CenturyLink complaints. (RC, 11/30/16)
NOT RECOMMENDED - "Centurylink is TERRIBLE here. They are trying to deliver premium services via old crappy Quest hardware, and can't do it. I was in the Test Market for Century Link Prism--in Columbia Missouri, and I loved it--but here--its a no go." (JT, 9/17/15)
NOT RECOMMENDED - "Really struggling with Century Link and their slow connectivity. I work out of my home and this is not good. I called them this morning- they said they would check on it...and call me back when it is resolved. No call so far." (MR, 2/10/15)
NOT RECOMMENDED - "Our internet service through Century Link is weak to non-existent and they've been here at least 4 times with no improvement in service." (MH, 2/6/15)
NOT RECOMMENDED - "The tech just came out to do the install and said NO WAY would I be getting the speeds I am getting currently with Comcast. He saw my giant graphics printer and said that I would be calling to cancel by this evening as it would not meet my work requirements. He did a speed test on my wired computer and said that there was no chance that CL Prism could compete with the 65 mbps I am getting. He apologized for the sales job they gave me and left." (LS, 1/12/15)
NOT RECOMMENDED - "It was not good at all. Comcast is far better quality. We use so much Wifi for our devices and especially the Blue Ray player for Netflix and it was always glitching out. Not recommended at all. It was so not worth the little we saved." (JW, 10/26/14)

"We have xfinity for internet only and Roku for TV, free if you buy the box." (J. Sinnott, 06/22)
"Comcast for Internet." (G. Raether, 9/18/15)
"We've been with Comcast our entire 13 years in TrailMark. They've gotten better and better. We like the fact you can go to the Comcast Store on Pierce & Ken Caryl and renegotiate the price whenever there is an increase. We still are paying 'new customer' rates!" (G. Handley, 9/17/15)
"Comcast is by far more reliable and faster. You just have to pay the $." (T. Signorelli, 7/29/15)
"I just renewed with Comcast to get a price reduction. I also need super high speed." (C. Belaski, 1/12/15)
"I have been using their service a number of years. My Trailmark service is better than average IMHO. Reliability and bandwidth are both acceptable. I use the Internet every day." (R. Hursch, 12/3/14)
"I have never had an internet outage and I work from home on the computer all day long. I was having an issue with my wi fi router not talking nicely to their cable modem which was making it slower and hanging but once I switched to their combo wifi/modem I have not had any issues." (L. Snyder, 12/3/14)
"Ours has been pretty good... in general great." (J. Hill, 12/3/14)
"We really like the service, especially DVR in the cloud. Just FYI...you'll wait about 2 to 3 weeks for install so keep that in mind." (R. Cannady, 12/3/14)

NOT RECOMMENDED - " Xfinity price gouging is insane. After trying to reduce my bill from $200/mo, they increased charges to $300 without my confirmation....after two follow-up calls and antother hour in the phone, still no change. They are the worst! " (J. Aiken, 06/22)
NOT RECOMMENDED - "I thought the speed was horrible so I switched to Century Link and am much happier. I still get instances where it seems to completely stop for a min or two but goes away pretty quick. Much better than constant lag of Comcast. You might be a Comcast hotspot for the rest of the neighborhood too. I would ask them about that. I have heard that can really slow you down if you are." (MS, 5/12/15)
NOT RECOMMENDED - "I've had Comcast for 2 years and during that time they have inched up my pricing from $19 per no to $75 for just internet. I despise the games they on pricing. Give me a price, I'll figure out if I want it and it fits my budget, then leave me alone." (MD, 2/6/15)

"The Xfinity store in BelMar is a true Xfinity store. The SW Plaza is a contract store. Definitely go to the store. " (G. Handley, 06/22)
"Definitely agree with othters to visit the store. I go every year and get a substantial savings. I have threatened to cut the cord a couple of times (nicely) and the price drops quickly. (T. Fisk, 06/22)

DirecTV - 1-800-490-4388
"We switched from Directv to Comcast when we moved here and we really miss Directv!" (T. Lynn, 9/18/15)
"DirecTV is great, but for internet, you have to go with Comcast." (J. Turchiano, 9/17/15)
"I like Directv, I dislike the fact that CentryLink is unwilling to work with lowering our Internet service, as they put it, we have used all our promotional deals. I will be dropping Internet, keeping Direct, and going to Comcast to paying $20 less knowing it will go up at the end of the year. I have no problem with switching between the two providers yearly to keep the price down. It is the worse of the two evils." (M. Rodriguez, 9/17/15)

Dish - 877-383-4011
"I only like Dish for TV - they will actually balance views and let us watch the Blaze TV. I wholly reject those who try to bury the truth by keeping conservative TV off air." (K. Rose, 9/17/15)

"My
experience: call every year at least to get a new promotional rate. If
they won't work with you tell them you're switching. Still no change,
switch. Repeat. We switched twice in 15 years. I also go to the Comcast
office on Pierce to talk to someone face to face and get great
resolution when I do go in." (C. Christensen, 8/1/15)
"I bought my modem and ditched the $10/ monthly charge and also am no longer an Xfinity access point as you are when renting their modems." (R. Williams, 5/12/15)

Antenna TV
Best Buy - 1-888-237-8289
"I went to Best Buy and asked the kid...not sure which brand I got but I took the recommendation. I get 56 channels on all of my tvs...but all of the local channels come in great as long as the antenna is facting the right way and I have a DRV that can record local programming as well. I do not miss cable!" (A, Prichard, 01/23)
"We've lived here since 2000 and have NEVER had cable. It's amazing how many stations are available." (C. Christensen, 01/23) "We got rid of cable almost two years ago. Saving us $250 a month. We had 3 boxes and the gold package. Now we use antennas like this one. This was like $40. They still sell it at Best Buy but they also have some flat white ones for $19.99. We have those on our other tv's. About 15 FREE.channels. We use CenturyLink for internet/wi-fi $19 a month. We subscribe to netflix for $8 a month to watch tv and cable series and movies. It's a no-brainer. My husband misses the NFL REDZONE and that's it." (M. Henry, 3/24/15) |

"We bought one from Costco (Winegard?) for about $35. It works well for all the basic stations. I'm so glad to be done paying for TV. I hope Wifi is next!" (K. Lorden, 3/22/15)

"We had MHO, but got hassled by the HOA management for our rooftop antenna (which, we believe, was perfectly legal, but didn't want to fight the HOA), so we switched to Comcast. But MHO was great, and reliable. If you go that route, you should submit it to the HOA first." (W. Gonzales, 4/27/14)

"I get pretty good signal strength with a Terk TV55 amplified antenna on the side of the house (outside, below eave) with a line of sight toward Lookout Mtn. Antenna is a 5" x 4' cylinder with a pivot mounted center to aim perpendicular to Lookout Mtn. Newer models available now." (R. Gonzales, 3/22/15)

"We've used a large antenna (installed by the prior owner) in our attic for 15 years to get the local channels. Check the FCC website for your address to see which DTV channels come in with a strong signal. The main broadcast tower is on Lookout Mountain in Golden. www.fcc.gov/media/engineering/dtvmaps " (J.
